The Ego considers itself as separate from the world,
while the Soul sees itself as intrinsically connected to everything that exists.
The Ego thinks that Earth belongs to it,
while the Soul understands that it belongs to Earth.
The Ego tries to control and dominate nature,
while the Soul serves and adapts to nature’s ways and rhythms.
The Ego fights against other Egos to win over them,
while the Soul acts with compassion to help Egos realize that they’re actually Souls.
The Ego wants more and more, no matter how much it already has,
while the Soul appreciates every little thing, being grateful for the gift of existence.
The Ego seeks pleasure in taking,
while the Soul finds joy in sharing.
The Ego feels anxious, lonely and insecure,
while the Soul feels calm, safe and at home with existence.
The Ego sacrifices the present for a never-coming future,
while the Soul savors the eternal now.
The Ego talks to an external God, begging for forgiveness,
while the Soul listens to the guidance of the Spirit inherent in all beings.
The Ego fears death and desperately tries to avoid it,
while the Soul embraces impermanence, knowing that life never dies.
