If you have been waiting for a savior, let me be loud and clear:
No one will come to save you.
No politician, no revolutionary, no guru — not even God.
People tend to believe that their lives will be saved by someone else. Someone who will sooner or later deliver them to utopia in this life or to heaven in the afterlife.
As they are, they feel powerless to bring about any change in their lives, and hence make no effort to do so – nor do they take any responsibility for the conditions they live in. They just wait for an external authority figure, whether real or imaginary, to come and save them – on whom they throw all responsibility for their lives.
And if that figure fails to save them – which is always the case – people blame him or her.
And you know what’s worse?
That they never learn. For soon afterwards they will start waiting again for another savior, living forever in self-deception.
Whether we like it or not, the truth is that no one can save us, except ourselves. Only we, individually and collectively, have the power to change the conditions of our lives. But to do so, we need to start taking responsibility in our hands, as well as concrete action.
So, if you have been waiting for a savior, stop waiting and start doing.
